šŗš¬Stage 73: Clean your bike in 5 minutes
and your equipment checklist for gravelling in Uganda
This weekās newsletter is still on the theme of the Tour de France and we have a race on our hands. We have a small race review so far and some environmental protests too. Heading off-road, thereās the story of gravelling Uganda and tips on what to pack for a day of bike touring. Be sure to check out this weekās featured brand too!
Hi,
Welcome to this weekās newsletter from Girona. Iāve just spent the last few hours glued to the TV watching one of the best stages of the Tour de France that Iāve ever seen in my life - maybe one of the greatest ever.
Itās all hotting up in France, both literally and metaphorically. The race for the yellow jersey is on fire and weāre in for a treat over the next ten days or so. So between riding my bike and watching the Tour de France, Iām not sure Iāll have much time to do anything else!
Happy pedalling,
Joe

The best Tour de France ever?
Weāve got a bloody good Tour de France on our hands. Every day brings an exciting battle for the stage and the competition for the yellow jersey is hotting up.
With pre-race favourite Tadej PogaÄarās team falling apart with COVID positive tests, itās looking like a more open race than first expected. On Stage 11, we saw the first chink in PogaÄarās armour in over two years with the young Slovenian falling to bits on the Col du Granon. Expect fireworks in response.

The guys over at Fat Pigeon, a gravel exploring duo, were invited out to test Ugandan gravel, and they werenāt disappointed. The country is rich in history and the scenery is rich in views. Enjoy both this blog and the photos in this piece.

Clean your bike in 5 mins
Cleaning your bike might sound like a simple task, but itās sometimes more complicated. Forget to wash it for a little too long and youāre left with a layer of thick black muck around the chain. Sometimes, no matter how much effort, it just doesnāt want to move.

A bike touring checklist
Weāve all dreamt about going on a bike tour. Whether thatās a Ugandan epic like we covered above or a simple day trip around your local area. Getting the equipment right is difficult: too little and you can be left short-changed, too much and youāre dragging heavy stuff around unnecessarily.

We all love to go fast on our bikes, but why is it that the UCI stopped pros from going super fast? The supertuck is an insanely aerodynamic position which allows riders to reach crazy speeds going downhill until it was banned.
