Hello,
Welcome to this week’s newsletter. There seems to be racing happening in every discipline and in every corner of the sport. Wherever you look there is another result, or new bit of equipment being launched.
I’m overwhelmed. I just arrived back in Girona after a week in the Andorran mountains. I’m about to head out for five weeks on the road racing. I’ll be in England, Ireland, Canada and America racing a mixture of road and gravel.
There is a lot of packing to be done, and I’m currently procrastinating so wish me luck!
Happy Pedalling,
Joe

The Giro d’Italia
The greatest Grand Tour of all, the Giro is back. As always it hasn’t quite gone to plan. Remco Evenepoel unsurprisingly won the opening TT, but then crashed twice on the soggy Stage 5.
Who’s going to win the Giro? If he can stay on his bike, my money is on Evenepoel.

You-Know-Who is back
No, I’m not talking about Voldemort in Harry Potter. Lance Armstrong is back, but not really in cycling. He’s going to Mars. Kind of. Sometimes cycling has strange crosses with mainstream, and this is one.
Stars on Mars is a strange reality TV show, and this article is well worth the read for its satire alone.

Mark Cavendish’s bike
I’m not going to apologise when I say we’re Mark Cavendish fanboys in this newsletter. Cav is the GOAT of sprinting, and we all want to see him break that Tour de France record.
Now in the blue of Astana, this is the Wilier Filante SLR that he’s racing the Giro on.

The fastest road bike EVER!?
The UK is home to some weird and wonderful traditions. Amongst them, there is the ten-mile time trial. It’s simple, go as hard as you can for ten miles. There are some crazy bikes, but some like to attempt it on the simple road bike.

Gravel before gravel was cool
Tro Bro Leon is thirty-nine years old. It’s a race that mixes road and gravel and has grown in popularity in recent years. It’s a race that I personally love, as it was my first taste of the big leagues.

Lessons learned from a 360 km race
The Traka 360 is an epic endurance race here around Girona. Taking the fastest riders around thirteen hours, and the slowest in excess of a day, it’s not one for the faint-hearted. Of course, on something that epic there are going to be plenty of lessons.
Not just for 360 km rides, but for everyday pedalling, here are nine lessons to follow.
