Hello, and welcome to our hundredth newsletter! This week we have everything from road racing to cyclocross, aerodynamic sunglasses to revolutionary groupsets. We also ask the question, what would you buy if you won a World Tour race?
Hello,
Welcome to our 100th newsletter! I know it’s only small, but it feels like quite the landmark. I haven’t been here since day one, but I’ve led the newsletter for over a year now. Here’s to the next hundred.
It snowed today in Girona. I was heading out on a normal endurance ride with some intervals, and although a little chillier than normal, I was not expecting snow. While riding up the Hincapie (Santa Pellaia) climb, a snowstorm came out of nowhere. Now, it was good fun riding up, but I was questioning my life decisions riding down.
I got to the bottom, shivering out of my skin and booked it home as fast as I could. Two frozen feet, one demoralised Joe, but another training ride in the bag!
Happy Pedalling,
Joe
Feel free to email me at joe@nplus1.cc if you have any questions, or feel I’ve missed something that is worth putting in the Newsletter.

Road racing is a go
Argentina, Australia and Mallorca, there is road racing happening all over the world currently. Over in South America, Sam Bennett and Fabio Jakobsen have been going to war in the sprints. Jay Vine tied up GC at the men’s TDU, and the Great Ocean Road Race is on the calendar this weekend.
Then Mallorca, it may be snowing on the Spanish island, but keep your eyes out for some explosive racing there too.

POC's aerodynamic sunglasses
Where do aerodynamic gains end? According to POC, not at sunglasses. In my eyes (how’s that for a pun?), these sunglasses are pretty cool, and if they make you faster then it’s a win-win.

Will your next bike be Classified?
Classified Cycling can potentially do something that nobody has been able to for years, disrupt the groupset market. The Belgian brand has a hub-based gear system which is completely different to anything else on the market.

Buying a Bentley for winning a bike race
What would you do if you won a World Tour race? For Jay Vine, it’s all about the cars. It’s no surprise that a pro-cyclist likes going fast, and there are many car collectors in the pro peloton.

Building the ultimate indoor pain cave
Having a “pain cave” is becoming more and more important in modern-day cycling. Gone are the days when people would stare at their garage wall for hours on end, nowadays it’s all about having the equivalent of a fitness studio in your house.
Here is a guide from Rouleur and Zwift on building the dream pain cave.

From shock diagnosis to paralympic dreams
How would you handle an amputation? It’s a question few of us have considered, but for Jake Woods, it was a very realistic scenario.

Alex Dowsett has retired from the pro ranks and for the first time in his adult life hasn’t had to spend winter training. The Brit is back, to some degree, and trying to rediscover some of his lost fitness. Four ramp tests in four days? It’s not my cup of tea, but watch Alex suffer.
