BMC and RedBull team up on the "first F1 bike" prototype - CyclingTips

This week’s newsletter brings a bike that has been developed by some of the brightest engineering minds in the world. As well as the weirdest pro-cycling story that you’ve ever read in your life…

Hello,

How’re you doing? This week’s newsletter is coming at you from Girona. I’ve been home for a couple of days now after finishing Tour de Bretagne, and tomorrow I’ll be jumping on a plane to the UK, heading back to see my family.

I’ve currently got a little break between races, so thought it was a good opportunity to nip home. I’ll be going into the wind tunnel for some aero-testing, as well as doing some club races. My next race with the team is Paris-Roubaix U23, I’m a little nervous to say the least!

Happy pedalling,

Joe

Feel free to email me at joe@nplus1.cc if you have any questions, or feel I’ve missed something that is worth putting in the Newsletter.

Cycling Fraud

Sit back, relax, and enjoy one of the greatest pieces of cycling journalism ever. This article is twenty chapters long, it’s almost a mini book.

It follows Australian cyclist Nick Clark, who built a loyal following at his Virginia bike shop, based in part on his national and international results and a lengthy professional career. There was just one problem: none of it was true.

The ‘Catch Me If You Can’-esque story of a man with a claimed past as a pro cyclist, a soldier, a CEO, a lawyer, an author, an academic, a hostage responder, and a weapons instructor.

Gravel Training

Gravel often demands pushing a larger gear at a slightly lower cadence to maintain traction and torque over lumps and bumps. It’s also a total-body workout as you shift your weight, float, hover, and assume all the proper positioning necessary to keep your bike on track and moving forward.

This article covers some strength training tips for Gravel riders.

Not only did this rider crash after crossing the finish line, he was then told that he came second as well. A double whammy of “oops” moments. In fairness, his saddle did snap off, but it doesn’t make this video any less funny.

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you attached a propellor to a bicycle? No, me neither. But luckily, someone on YouTube did want to answer that question. This video is charming, gentle and very nerdy - a little bit Mythbusters, a little bit DIY tutorial, and a pretty harmless way to spend half an hour of your life.
