✂️ Stage 70: President Joe Biden falls from a bike
and how much alcohol one needs to drink to start falling from a bike
This week’s newsletter includes two very expensive bits of tech, as well as a look into how President Biden managed to crash in front of the world media. We’ve got interviews with cycling legends past and present and there’s an article exploring how much alcohol we can go for until we start falling off our bikes. Enjoy!
Hi, how’s it going?
This week’s newsletter is coming from the back of my parent’s car on the way to Scotland. I’m not going to lie, it’s pretty cramped in here. I have two bikes, a million and one bags and a load of other random stuff crammed around me.
It’s National Champs weekend, and this year we have the pleasure of it being in Dumfries, which is just over the border on the west coast. Tomorrow brings TT Nationals, and the road race is on Sunday.
These are my first races back after what feels like forever, so I have no clue where I’ll be, I just know I’m going to race hard.
Happy pedalling,
Joe

Talking to Tadej Pogacar
Tadej Pogacar is the best cyclist in the world. Back-to-back Tour de France wins, as well as going on the attack and winning, or coming close to winning in races that really shouldn’t suit him. Yet, just because you’ve won the Tour de France, it doesn’t mean you can skip the queue at a bike shop.
This interview gives an insight into Pogacar’s mindset with little anecdotes scattered throughout.

Does a little bit of alcohol help?
“A little bit of what you like does you good.” A statement which has seemingly rang true for decades. When it comes to alcohol, it could be true, too. Alcohol has a “J-Curve” effect on performance, a little doesn’t hurt, but very suddenly the negatives come into play.
